- Educated at Parktown Boys’ High School Johannesburg and University of the Witwatersrand. Studied accountancy, arts and law. Practised as an attorney in Johannesburg for over 40 years. Was Chairman of the Johannesburg Attorneys Association 1997 to 1998 and served in various capacities on Residents Associations and School Boards for more than 20 years. Has also served on various committees of the Transvaal Law Society (now the Law Society of the Northern Provinces).
